Run

Run - After the Great Artists
I was fascinated originally by the combination of orange and pink, which reminded me of Frank Cadogan Cowper's painting 'The Fortune Teller - Beware of a Dark Lady', which was one of my favourite pictures at the Russell-Cotes when I was a child. (It's no longer on display but I was privileged to see it privately this year, and it's not quite how I remember it.)

My childhood memories of a dress in the painting are the reason that I took the set of pictures this comes from; but this was by far my favourite image of the set, and I printed it, named it and lived with it for the next two days, wondering what connection I was making with it. I woke up one morning thinking, "It's a Picasso!", and I set about finding which one. It turned out to be 'Two Women Running On the Beach'.

So here it is to start this portfolio, as I'm currently reading 'Picasso:Challenging The Past', and that exhibition finishes today at the National Gallery in London.
